Bronze statue of Gordon, standing on high pedestal. With inscription which reads: ERECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF VICTORIA TO HONOUR THE MEMORY OF CHARLES GEORGE GORDON MAJOR-GEN ROYAL ENGINEERS WHO FELL AT KHARTOUM JANUARY 26 1885 Sculpture by Hamo Thornycroft. A second casting of an earlier statue on the Thames Embankment in London.

Inge King - obituary

Obituary of sculptor, Inge King (1915-2016) whose relevance to East Melbourne lies in her commission by the architectural firm of Grounds, Romberg and Boyd to design the Dewdrop Fountain, sometimes known as the Fountain of the Birds, which stood in the Fitzroy gardens until 1980.
