Bronze statue of Gordon, standing on high pedestal. With inscription which reads: ERECTED BY THE PEOPLE OF VICTORIA TO HONOUR THE MEMORY OF CHARLES GEORGE GORDON MAJOR-GEN ROYAL ENGINEERS WHO FELL AT KHARTOUM JANUARY 26 1885 Sculpture by Hamo Thornycroft. A second casting of an earlier statue on the Thames Embankment in London. Placed in Gordon Reserve in 1889. The Statue is classified by the National Trust. Scanned directly from original photo.
