Copy of article in Ancestor June 2003. Letters from Eleanore La Trobe to Mrs. Roy-Applin (nee Woods). Mrs. Roy-Applin was related by marriage to the Bedggood family of shoe manufacturers. It was she who persuaded the Bedggods to save La Trobe's cottage. She corresponded with Eleanore La Trobe to find out more about their family life in Melbourne. The letters are dated 1935-1937.

The Life of Constance Stone - Australia's First Woman Doctor
Article in EMHS newsletter Sept. 2003. Biography of Constance Stone (1856-1902), Australia's first woman doctor. She lived for a time at 179 Gipps St. She worked at the Free Medical Mission in Collingwood founded by Dr. John Singleton, also a resident of East Melbourne; she founded the Medical Women's Society; and was instrumental in founding the Queen Victoria Hospital.
