1988 Cairns Memorial Church fire
In the early evening of 15 August 1988 the Cairns Memorial Church caught fire. Professional photographer and resident of East Melbourne, Rod Goodwin was returning home from an assignment in the city when the fire was beginning to engulf this historic church. With his most suitable professional equipment at hand, Rod captured this dramatic and detailed record of the progress of the fire.

Dr Adam Cairns
A paper on the life and work of Dr Adam Cairns (1802-1881), clergyman and theologian, and founding father of the Presbyterian Church in Melbourne. He established Chalmers Church, its first place of worship, on Eastern Hill. After his death Cairns Memorial Church in Powlett Street, East Melbourne was built in his memory.
