Date built:
1854c
Demolished:
1910c
First owner:
Francis Hobson
Description:

A single storey, single fronted brick house.

History:

The house first appears in the 1854 Rate Books as a brick cottage having four rooms and a kitchen. There appears to be no Notice of Intent to Build. Its first owner, Francis Hobson, insurance agent and, later, gentleman, lived in the house until his death in 1870. Two years later it was sold to William Royal, bricklayer and, later, gentleman, who also lived there until his death in 1894. In Royal's will it was described as a five room brick cottage, which implies a single storey.

The house was demolished and replaced with a two storey red brick house circa 1910. The facade has been rendered and modernised.

Owners and occupiers:

1854-1870: Francis Hobson, insurance agent
1872-1894: William Royal, bricklayer
