First owner:
James Peel Browne, cab proprietor
Description:

Workshop

History:

First listed in the Rate Books as a workshop but by 1895 the useage had changed to stables. James Peel Browne owned the building until his death in 1905. Sometime after 1910 it became the Commonwealth Motor Garage with Adams and Bradstreet as proprietors.
By 1923 the same company was advertising with L. Incigneri as the proprietor. In 1932 advertisements show that the business was selling second hand cars. By 1949 it was the Uneeda Taxi Service. It was given as the address of T J Smith in his bankruptcy proceedings. He was no doubt the proprietor at this time. By 1954 it was the Metro Taxi Service when it advertised in the local Trinity Church Herald.
