1855. Name mentioned: Capt. McMahon.
1857c. Capt. (later, Sir) Charles McMahon lived here, until his death in 1891. A police officer, politician, he was also at various times Chief Commissioner of Police, M.L.A., Minister and Speaker. He was a pillar of Trinity Church.
1891-1912. His widow continued living here.
Notes: 'Eastern House' flats now built on this site. Portion of house still exists in the centre 2-storey block - old fireplace is built into the fence at rear. Last photo shows original side wall.
