A short item about a new building being erected at 127-135 Simpson Street, East Melbourne to the design of architects, Romberg and Boyd. The piece appeared in Architect, January 1974. Architect is a publication of the Victorian Chapter of the Institute of Architects. The author was probably Neil Clerehan, co-editor of the journal at the time.

The piece centres on the unwise interference of the East Melbourne Group in the building's design features.  While his opinions on the architecture of the day may be valid, Clerehan's knowledge of East Melbourne's local history falls short.  The East Melbourne Group was in fact founded in 1953 as a result of a Council decision to cut down the elm trees lining George Street.
