A modern two storey town house, retaining only the front wall and bluestone foundations of the earlier single storey Victorian cottage.
James Scoular owned and occupied the three roomed cottage until 1864 when it passed to Andrew Scoular, a produce merchant, who owned and occupied it until his death in 1867. Edward Bice became the owner the following year and he, too, owned it until his death in 1897. He was also the occupier until 1872, after which William Bice, an ironmonger and presumably Edward's son, became the occupier, although not continuously. Interestingly a Mr. McLean occupied the house in 1874 and 1875 and he may well have been of the McLean family who owned McLean & Rigg, ironmongers.
By 1983 the cottage was in a neglected state and the then owner, Peter Black, decided to rebuild. Nonda Katsalidis was the architect, and he designed a completely new building, leaving only the front wall of the old cottage to allow construction right to the footpath, without the usual set back. The building won a design award at the time but has since been altered.
