Very narrow single fronted two storey house.
This little house was built as an investment for George Milton. The rate books described it as having six rooms on land eleven feet by sixty-six feet. Roughly ninety years later it was deemed uninhabitable by the Housing Commission on grounds of its size and its ruinous condition and a demolition order was issued. Despite protests from the National Trust and local residents, and an offer from a private individual to restore the house, complying with all building requirements, it was demolished. The site remained vacant until neighbouring houses were also demolished to make way for the Shell service station.
George Milton owned other investment properties in East Melbourne (see 157 Gipps Street) and from 1900 lived at 105 George Street, East Melbourne. Towards the end of his life he moved to Sydney and died there, at the home of his daughter, in 1925.
