Two pictures of East Melbourne residents in front of Mygunya, 92 Vale Street, East Melbourne. The first of the family of Peter Hill taken in 1885. The second of Myra Young taken in 1962. Myra, about to leave for a holiday in Singapore and Hong Kong, is smartly dressed and sporting the latest beehive hairdo.
A third photo, taken in 1962, shows Myra (right) and friend, Gail Erland, enjoying life at Mygunya. The room featured is the one at the front on the first floor.
Caption to the 1885 picture of Mygunya:
"Typical of the people who lived in most of East Melbourne's houses were the Peter Hills, photographed here outside "Mygunya", built by Peter Hill at 92 Vale Street about 1885."
On the reverse of the picture of Myra:

This version of the 1885 picture is from page 149 of Winston Burchett's book "East Melbourne, 1837-1977, People, Places, Problems", published by Craftsman Press, 1978. Burchett's acknowledgement: "From a photograph given to the author by a descendant of Peter Hill."
The 1962 picture was given to the East Melbourne Historical Society by Myra Sutton, together with a scanned print from Burchett's book.
