This book discusses the origins of women's education in nineteenth-century Australia. It focuses on private schools as opposed to State or Church run schools. It includes a short chapter on Vieusseux Ladies' College, East Melbourne and a photo of the proprietors, Julie and Lewis Vieusseux. The College was at various addresses but 1860-65 it was at Valetta, 206 Clarendon Street and 1874-82 was at 166-68 Clarendon Street (demolished).
