Photo shows a traffic roundabout at the junction of Wellington Parade, Wellington Parade South and  Clarendon Street.  It was constructed in 1956 as a result of traffic congestion in Wellington Parade. Traffic out-bound from the city travelled along Wellington Parade, while in-bound traffic was directed along Wellington Parade South.  The photo shows the multitude of signs which was often confusing to drivers resulting in many accidents.  The roundabout was eventually removed in 1980.
