The letters of Private Thomas Gardner written to his mother and sister, Mabel from the battlefields of World War I. Interspersed with the letters is the story of Mabel's involvement with the Women's Peace Movement extracted from her diary. The Gardners' family home was Coniston, 117 George Street, East Melbourne.
