WRIGHT, Robert George
Enlisted 18 Jan 1915 at Broadmeadows, aged 20 years 6 months. He was a warehouseman and had been apprenticed to Robert Reid & Co. for 6 years. His next of kin was his sister, Miss Queenie Wright of 108 George Street. He was 5ft. 10.5ins., with grey eyes and black hair. Embarked 17 Apr 1915, served in Egypt, transferred to 46th battalion 3 Mar 1916, disembarked Marseilles from Alexandria 8 Jun 1916, wounded in action (gunshot wounds to the face and leg) 8 Aug 1916 at Camiers, fit for service 7 Sep 1916, in and out of hospital in France and England (wounds and illness). Discharged Melbourne 25 Oct 1918, medically unfit. Address 49 St. Vincent's Place, Albert Park in 1925 His elder daughter, Miss Margaret G. Wright was living at 29 Young Street, Preston in 1968-69; and younger daughter, Mrs. Catherine M. Ferguson of 17 Cormac Street, Preston.
