MORTON, Stanley William
Stanley Morton was born in East Melbourne in February 1894. At the time he enlisted, he was 24 years old, married, with one child and working as an electricia. He gave his own address on enlistment as 'Ottawa' Fishers' Parade, Ascot Vale, but hs wife's as 25 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne. It is possible that, given that they believed he would go to Europe to fight, that she and the baby were going to ive with his parents.
The unfortunate or perhaps fortunate ting for Stanley Morton was that he enlisted on 18 October, 1918. This was only 23 days until the armistice was called and the war ended. As a result, Stanley Morton was discharged from the army before he was sent overseas to join the A.I.F. He presumably went back to his original occupation as an electrician.
