Andrew Lennox was 25 years and 11 months old when he enlisted in the AIF at East Melbourne. He had been born in Scotland and gave his next of kin as his sister Jenny Lennot, living at 11 Olm St., Pennycuik, Scotland. He was a sailor by trade and may not have been highly literate: his service record shows his name first as Lennot, corrected to Lennox and it may be that the 't' at the end of the name is actually a skewed 'x'. He was not considered to be in first rate health, and reported 'varicole' on his body, writing that he was willing to undergo surgery to correct it. However, the health check done on 24 January, 1917, at Geelong Hospital showed that he suffered from gonorrhea. He was sent to Langwarren Isolation Hospital and remained there until 25 October, 1917. His record ends there. He was presumably discharged without serving, though no paperwork attesting to this is in his file.
