Digital archive Colour photo shows house of unusual Moorish design. It was built for John Speechley Gotch, newsagent and partner in Gordon and Gotch. It was demolished in the 1960s to make way for expansion of the Freemasons Hospital.

I took the photograph in 1958, one of my first with new camera and 35mm Kodachrome film! I was a frequent user of Albert Street in those days when travelling between the city and my home. I was always intrigued by its Moorish styling to be seen also on the old State (now Forum)Theatre in Flinders Street.
