The photograph shows the special papal legate Cardinal MacRory standing on the balcony of Mount St Evin's Private Hospital with white-robed church dignitaries and thousands of the faithful packed the Parade.

Contents/Summary: Shows large crowd gathered and filling the intersection of Victoria Parade and Gisborne Street, East Melbourne, outside the Mount St. Evins Private Hospital and St. Vincent's Hospital. Shows the extent of buildings on the North side of Victoria Parade between Nicholson and Napier Streets, Fitzroy. A photographer, with his camera resting on the parapet of the Eastern Hill Fire Station can be seen in the immediate right corner of the image.
