Date built:
1866
First owner:
George Waterstrom, engineer.
Description:

A single storey, single fronted house, with a cement rendered 1930s facade. It has a two storey studio at the rear.

History:

George Waterstrom owned this house from the time it was built until his death in 1907. He lived in the house until 1873, during which time it is described as two rooms. Extensions were made in 1874 bringing the number of rooms to six, it was extended again in 1878 to arrive at seven rooms. The facade was altered during the 1930s.

A request for information in the Royal Historical Society of Victoria's newsletter for history of iron-founders who produced decorative ironwork for houses in Melbourne indicates that this was Waterstrom's line of business.

Owners and occupiers:

1874-1876 Thomas Blunn. Described in his death notice as late of the GPO,
Melbourne.
1878-1880 John Smellie. He started with the Victorian Railways in 1864 as a draftsman, later described as a civil servant with the Victorian Railways.
