FENTON, Arthur William
Arthur William Fenton enlisted on 15 July, 1915. He was a clerk by occupation, 5' 9" tall, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. he gave as his next of kin his father, Arthur Fenton of Bank St., Ascot Vale.
Arthur Fenton was sent to Seymour, Victoria, to train with D Company, No. 1 Battalion, 88th Company. However, the discovery of a hernia on his right side and his admission that he had 'pains at time in right iguinal region on exertion', gained when lifting a wheelbarrow', meant that he was medically unfit. He was offered an operation to correct the problem, but refused treatment.
He was discharged from the armed forces, categorised as medically unfit.
