John Beckett was one month off 28 years old when he enlisted on 21 December, 1915. He was then single and a painter by trade, living at 53 Gipps St., East Melbourne. He had been working for the last five years at W. Smith in Hamilton before moving to Melbourne.

ECCLES, Harold
Harold Eccles enlisted on 24 April, 1915. He was 23 years old, single and a salesman for Dairy Produce. he lived at 112 Hotham Street, East Melbourne, and gave as his next f kin his father, Edward Eccles, of 7 Oak Road, The Cliff, Broughton, Manchester. On 16 November, he was called up and sent for training to Seymour, where he was attached to the 7th Reinforcements of the 24th Battalion.

Born in Carlton Victoria in September, 1897, Frank Fraser was the son of Margaret, nee Walls, and Falconer Fraser, whom he cited as his next of kin, living at 42 Agnes St., Jolimont. He was the middle child, with his eldest sister, Eva Emmeline, born 1899 and his younger sister, Olive Margot, born in 1894. Frank Fraser was a jockey by trade, single and lived nearby at 17 Grey St.

Born on 25 April 1891 in Richmond, Victoria. He was the only child of Charles Chillingworth De Britton Godfrey (d.1902) and his wife Elizabeth Amelia (nee Gaynor). Educated at Xavier College, Kew. At the time of enlistment, 28 April 1915, he gave his occupation as accountant. He had served previously as 2nd Lieutenant with the 63rd Regiment, East Melbourne.

He listed his occupation as "labourer"; his father, Alfred, was a jeweller and the family came from England at some time after 1901, as the UK Census of that year has the family living at Smethwick, Worcestershire. They had two children, a boy, Leslie, and a girl, Nesta.
